This typical old townhouse is located right in the heart of the whitewashed mountain village of Frigiliana, which is said to be one of the prettiest in Spain. Frigiliana, set on the foothills of the dramatic mountain range “Sierra de Almijara” is only a ten minute drive from lovely beaches and the coastal town of Nerja. This charming townhouse contains most of the original features and interior design it had when it was originally built about a century ago, thus maintaining the authentic flavor from that time. Apart from a few things, the townhouse is not in need of modernizing unless a future owner wishes to do so. The ground floor contains a light filled living-room that is equipped with a wood-burning stove, a guest toilet and an old kitchen that gives access to courtyard and to a semi open utility room where the washing machine is housed. The utility room also has access to a courtyard. A flight of stairs leads up to second floor that contains a large double bedroom which has a small balcony overlooking the street and another bedroom with access to a stairway leading up to the roof terrace. On the second floor there is a “state of the art” bathroom of a really old and curious design. The roof terrace has a practical, small and old fashioned “plunge pool”. A typical and wonderful townhouse located in the best part of the old town. Ideal as a holiday home or as a permanent residence. A must see!

This charming village is located just north of the popular seaside resort of Nerja. Its dramatic setting is 435 metres above sea level and from the village the views of the countryside and the Mediterranean coastline are stunningly beautiful. It has a population of approximately 2.200 people and enjoys easy access to the old coastal road as well as the new motorway. There is a daily bus service to the coastal towns and the provincial capital. The town nestles on the southern slopes of Sierra de Enmedio which forms part of the Sierra Almijara Mountains, the boundary line between the provinces of Malaga and Granada. The area is irrigated by the river Chillar which flows into the sea near Nerja. The waters are used for vegetable and potatoes plots which are common in the area as well as plantations of subtropical fruits such as avocados and custard apples. Archaeological investigation has revealed that the area has been populated since the dawn of time and there is ample evidence which indicates that Phoenicians and Romans established communities here. The village is divided up into two sections, the old Arab quarter with its winding, cobbled and shady streets and the new quarter. The main street which winds through the old town ends in a square where the parochial church of San Antonio is located. It was built in 1676 and among many details of architectural interest the exterior doors, with their lovely adornments, should not be missed. Modern times have brought all the amenities required by visitors and the local population. There are restaurants, bars and quiet terraces to while away the hours and enjoy the tranquil lifestyle.
