The town of Alcudia is located along the southern part of the Pollensa bay and behind mountainous headlands. Alcudia has some really first-class restaurants and there has been a discernible move up-market. Less overall diversity than in the port, not a Chinese in sight! But there is a Thai restaurant. In addition there are the small resorts and areas of Mal Pas, Bonaire, Coll Baix, Barcares and Alcanada. There are also the port of of Alcudia, Puerto Alcudia. The town is an historic town with Roman, Byzantine and Moorish influences. It takes its name from the Arabic for the hill. Alcudia town has no beach, but to the north are the areas of Marina, Mal Pas and Barcares. On the beaches here you will find coves that are quieter than the ports beach. Mal Pas and Cala San Pedro at is a good example. Rocky around here, and some parts, like Bonaire, have no beach to speak of. Marina is much more exposed as its on the bay of Pollensa. Its very popular with kite-surfers. Bonaire is a good centre for watersports and it boasts its own small Marina.
