Canillas de Aceituno is a town and a municipality in the province of Málaga, located in Costa del Sol. It is part of Andalusia and located in the southern part of Spain. Canillas de Aceituno is approximately 54 km from Málaga and 68 km from Almuñécar and it inhabites only around 1,746 people. Canillas de Aceituno is very beautifully located in the hinterland of the Axarquia region. It is located between the mounatin slopes and the valley of the Almachares river which gives it a very mild climate. The village is located on the outskirts of the Siera Almijara Wildlife Reserve and is kind of secluded, but is easily reached from the coast. The new coastal motorway is only a short 20-minute drive away. When approaching the village from the coast you will pass through the beautifull landscape of almond and olive groves, vineyards and avocado, mango and chirimoya orchards. The view of Canillas de Aceituno when approching is breathtaking; the contrast of the white village on the backdrop of Sierra Tejeda is astonishing. Also from withing the village there is a beautifull view of the surrounding mountains.
